Last week my husband finally had the XM Radio, his birthday present from September, installed in his car. In order to connect, I called the company to send an activation signal. Along with the signal came instructions to 1) turn on the power 2) drive the car out of the garage 3) make sure there was a clear view of the sky so the signal could be received from the satellite.
It struck me how that illustrates Jesus’ unbroken connection with the Father as He walked this earth, never in a hurry. In the gospels we see Him interrupted pressed by crowds, weary and tired; yet never without the sense of perfect harmony, clear connection, with the Father and perfectly in step with the Spirit.
How often, I fear, I hurry and worry and find myself “in the garage” or allowing some other obstruction to block the clear signals of the Spirit and I lose my connection. The new XM radio reminds me that I need an unbroken connection, possible only when I keep the obstacles out of the way; sins confessed and plugging into the Spirit’s power.
