Duty and Desire

"Be fruitful and multiply".  This is the command given to the man and the woman in the garden and recently I was reading through a book that said that this is the best reason we should have children, because God commands us to.  I read this and it just rubbed me the wrong way.  I've been trying to discern whether it is because I just don't like being told what to do (especially since it begins with something called "labor") or is there something else?

It Is Good

In this final week on this series of Christian Debates: Evolution and Intelligent Design, I'd like to add a couple of considerations to keep in mind as we discuss this issue.

Humans Are Special, But Genesis Is Fuzzy

Today we continue our series on how we, as Christians, can discuss and debate possibly devisive issues. We're looking specifically at the issue of Christian evolution v. creationism (or Intelligent Design). I've asked my friend, Marcus Goodyear, to guest post today on the view of Christian evolution.

After watching 2001 as a boy, I worried I’d committed some sort of felony. I asked my dad about the gorilla-men. “My Sunday school teacher told us God made the world in six days.”

“That’s true, son,” my dad said. “It’s just a movie.”

Pray for Married Couples

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

I don't have anything fancy to say today.

Just a prayer request:

Take time today to pray for married couples. Meditate on Genesis 1:26-31; Genesis 2:21-24, I Corinthians 13:4-7 and Ephesians 5:15-33. Peruse the Song of Songs. And pray these things over your marriage (present or future), and the marriages of others that you know.

This post isn't about about the definition of marriage. There are plenty of blogs on that.

Today, it's about naked, needy defense. Those who choose to marry had better arm themselves.
