Keeping first things first!

Last evening we enjoyed dinner with a group of former young marrieds from a class convened in the early 1980s. In those days one key aim for the class was the development among the couples of authentic and lasting friendships.  The evening provided a glimpse into God's blessing of that intention and the value of it.

Thank God for friends. Good ones.
Here are some things I am celebrating today about friends:
•    They unselfishly celebrate your promotions, good grades, or a fabulous hair cut.
•    Friends will tell you when you have a little booger in your nose.

This particular blog entry day catches me totally unprepared, because, well, I just celebrated my birthday (one of those birthdays that are in between "significant" milestone years). I find myself vacillating between euphoria and discontent.

The questions continuously bubble up:

What have I done with my life? Am I using the gifts and talents that the Lord has given me for His glory? Am I a better wife, student, worshipper, friend, daughter, than I was last year?
