A great timesaver for Bible students who want to find things quickly on the web has been posted by Dr David Instone-Brewer, Senior Research Fellow in Rabbinics and the New Testament at Tyndale House, Cambridge, UK. Check it out at www.tyndalehouse.com/toolbar. This toolbar is a free addin for IE or Firefox for PC and Firefox for Mac (no other browsers supported yet). It contains a suite of shortcuts to various tools important for biblical studies: Translation tools (Greek and Hebrew, of course, but also Latin, Coptic, Syriac, Akkadian, Arabic, and a number of modern languages); Bibliography tools (search by title words or author); Bible lookup tools (Hebrew and Greek plus 16 other English translations including the NET Bible); Bible links (which has links to 70+ English Bible translations online (!) along with ancient versions, Bible study tools, scholar's aids, and preaching and teaching aids.
Although like any browser toolbar the Tyndale Toolbar can easily be toggled on and off, most users will want it on all the time. It contains additional features like a highlight button to complement the search capability, enabling the user to highlight with one click all the hits to the search word on the page. There are also other standard browser toolbar features like local weather, radio stations, and popup blocking. Also included is an email checker which watches over your email for new messages. It can handle several accounts and allows you to log straight in to the web email account without needing to type a password.
Some of the lexicons for biblical languages (Greek, Hebrew, Latin, Akkadian, Arabic) feature two-letter lookup, where you simply type in the first two letters and then pick from a list of words, saving the time of having to type in the entire word. The bibliographic search can also help find whether books or articles are available online from several sources.
In short, this is a great tool for students, pastors, teachers, and those interested in advanced Bible study. Many thanks to Dr Instone-Brewer for his great work on this valuable tool.

Hi Hall,
I went looking for the toolbar but did not find it. Where can I get it?
I rechecked the link in the blog post and it's working properly. Took me right to the "install" button for the toolbar on the Tyndale website. I've personally installed it in both IE7 and Firefox, so I know the installer works.
