Prof Harris,
Having gone through the software progression you present, I find your summary is outstanding, as usual!
When I could afford nothing else, eSword worked really well, and it can quickly find a verse that is half-remembered. The NeXt Bible Environment is already the best tool on the Web for allowing a person to reach useful information no more than one screen away from the NET Bible page being studied.
I have used Logos, but I prefer BibleWorks 7 for exegetical work. It works best if you buy the BDAG-3 and HALOT modules. As you point out, this is really for advanced students or seminarians. Logos has boatloads of commentaries, but it is a snail compared to the fast searches in BibleWorks. Perhaps because I am older, I prefer commentaries in print so I can highlight relevant material.
If you have any thoughts about whether Accordance would actually work on a PC running Mac-emulation software (RAM=1Gb), I would like to hear your views.
Thanks,
Barry
