What does your gospel lead to?

I was interacting with a friend who thoughtfully summarized his view of our gospel in the US and the problems it has caused. He is qualified to speak because he is a Phd [when he finish dissertation........ because he has been a missionary for ten years......... and because in the last seven years he has had a liver transplant and is now fighting pancreatic cancer. He has been greatly weakened and lives with one foot in the next world and one in this. His name is Terry Dischinger, he and his wife Emily live with their three children in the Chicago area. Terry writes"One truth that I think He is trying to teach me is that the gospel is more powerful than what most preach here. When I read the gospels it seems that the crowds and people were continually amazed at the actions or the words of the Lord. They had power to them. Our gospel in the US doesn't seem to have power and thus people are not amazed by it. I am intrigued by the fact that in the gospels people were amazed but many of them did not accept the gospel or put their faith in Christ. That shows me that it is a decision of the heart that people won't always make even when they see the truth of the message or are convinced by the power of what they see. Giving over control of your life is so much more than intellectual assent. I don't see people having to make that type of decision much with the gospel we preach and display here in the US. I think that if people began seeing real lives changed, marriages healed, reconciliation between enemies, people healed, people finding meaning in life, people having hope through tragedy, etc., we might find that people are amazed by the gospel. Otherwise, it ends up just being the words of people that many see as hypocrits anyway. I want to live a life where i am continually growing and changing and through which the power of the gospel can be displayed. I may be wrong, but I think that is the gospel that will make a difference and that is the type of gospel that has long been lacking in the US. In all that I have been going through these last number of years, it is this goal that the Lord has led me to."   Enough said
