Bill Hull’s passion has been to help the church return to its disciple making roots and he considers himself a discipleship evangelist. This God-given desire has manifested itself in twenty years of pastoral service and the authorship of ten books. His first book, Jesus Christ Disciplemaker, is celebrating 20 years with a new edition. The Disciple Making Pastor and the Disciple Making Church are two successive books which make up his popular disciple making trilogy. These books have provided the church with a new paradigm for disciple making.
The thing I don't understand about the "prosperity gospel" is the fact that, if they really believed what they are preaching, they would go to the poorest regions of the earth and share their message. Wouldn't that be the way to end the cycle of poverty that has gripped the world for thousands of years? I guess if one doesn't have money to send to them, they have no chance to be blessed with God's provision.
In America, our prosperity has bred materialism, which has led to a nation who has "forgotten" God, much as Israel did time and time again. Moses warned them of this as did the prophets. Much of the financial distress in America is due to nothing more than a materialistic lifestyle. We don't need a financial rescue, we need to repent of materialism and seek first the kingdom of God. Have we too forgotten God?
