I don't know how we managed to get away from teaching basic obedience for so long. Maybe people thought it went without saying. Maybe they thought you'd get that from your Bible reading. Maybe they honestly thought it didn't matter.

But we have to be careful of the opposite error today -- too many seem to think a little knowledge and a lot of action is fine.

You can't obey if you don't read; if you're not going to obey, there's no point in reading.
