Bill Hull’s passion has been to help the church return to its disciple making roots and he considers himself a discipleship evangelist. This God-given desire has manifested itself in twenty years of pastoral service and the authorship of ten books. His first book, Jesus Christ Disciplemaker, is celebrating 20 years with a new edition. The Disciple Making Pastor and the Disciple Making Church are two successive books which make up his popular disciple making trilogy. These books have provided the church with a new paradigm for disciple making.
I do believe in the doctrines of Sovereign Grace, better known as Calvinism. But I have not always been one that believed all five points of Sovereign grace. I had attended a "Soverign Grace" Church for a long time. What changed my mind was a friendly debate that I had with another brother in Christ concerning election. The conversation went something like this:
Me: "Do you believe that God is Sovereign?"
Friend; "yes I do believe that God is Sovereign"
Me: "Then how can God be Sovereign over everything except for
His gift to mankind? If He is not Sovereign over everything, then is He
really Sovereign at all? and if He is not Sovereign over everything than we
are devoted our lives to a "thing" instead of the True and only God"
That was when it hit me.... How can I believe that God is Sovereign, except for His own gift?
Does this give man freedom to not accept His message.. by no means!
You might ask me, "Do you believe then in the great commission?" You "bet"-- God commands it.
AM I proud that God chose me? No, there is nothing in me that says that I deserve to be chosen. I do not know why... but I know that God saved me... it is a humbling thought.
What about those that do not believe in the Soverign Grace doctrines. How do I feel bout those believers? If they are bought with the price of the blood of the Lamb, then I wish that we can come together, to aggree to disaggree with this doctrine.. and go forth to our city, state, nation, and the world.
I know that I can learn a lot from my brothers and sisters who do not aggree with
me...
Sorry.. I stop..t hanks for listening..to me....
