OK I didn't vote for any of the candidates. I can't. I'm Irish living across 'The Pond' in the UK:0) However I did something, done something, and do something that I believe the Holy Spirit causes in all believers, that pleases God our Saviour. I prayed as I am sure many have and do throughout the Church, the Body of collective believers in Christ. Because there will always be debates about the competency of government and of course the laws they pass, which ever country or year that such and such a government comes into being; we are to intercede for all people including government - all those in authority - as we are always in need of God expressing His saving work in our lives and wanting to share the good news of salvation with others. Do we want to please our Saviour ? ( a lot of the time we displease Him through our arguments that while understandable and intellectually appealing perhaps, do not always exalt the Saviour, while of course other arguments upholding the good news of Jesus Christ, do please and honour Jesus Christ.) Praying for a government doesn't of course mean agreement with that government, but it can mean praying that the government is saved from ill willed policy making that hinders the promotion of the good news of Christ in our society. Different governments may highlight under God's sovereignty and saviourship, means by which the Gospel may be more accessible to not just us sinners saved by grace, but fellow sinners and human beings made in the image of God, not yet realising the graciousness of God, but all too often punished by the ungraciousness of the Church, rather than embraced by a Church truly realising her sanctification by grace and truth. Please pray for me also that I can trust Jesus more to transform me so that I am helpful to the spread of the good news rather than hindering it by my lack of gracious speech, thought or conduct in the Lord. Dave thankyou for Bible.org!!! I love the visual Scripture too. It really does help me and I thank the way Christ is unfolding this ministry in the lives of you and your team and loved ones.
