Using BibleWorks 8 for learning vocabulary

Since I teach beginning Greek frequently, using BibleWorks 8 to help students learn is important to me. One simple feature that pays a wealth of dividends is the vocabulary module. Memorizing vocabulary is hard, and perhaps a little tedious, but it is absolutely essential if one is going to read the New Testament with any proficiency.

BibleWorks has a simple "flash card" program which shows words from the Greek New Testament or Hebrew Old Testament. It allows you to mark words as learned or unlearned, so they either drop out of the rotation or show up again as needed.

The powerful feature of this module which makes it supremely useful is the ability to filter words according to your needs. For example, most Greek students learn words that occur 50 times or more in the New Testament. If you were studying a particular book of the Bible, Matthew for instance, and you are up on your regular vocabulary, you could filter the list so only words which occur 49 times or less that also show up in Matthew are shown. The same type of filtering can be done on Hebrew words as well.
