For those in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, I will be joining a "Pastor's Panel" at Trinity Bible Church this Sunday, December 7, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm to discuss the very popular Christian fiction book The Shack. Also on the panel will be TBC's senior pastor Jeff Miller and youth pastor Brian Gross. The goal is to discuss the book's impact and important theological questions it raises. We will have a round table discussion for 60 minutes then audience questions for 30 minutes. Guests from all over the metroplex are wekcome. Childcare is provided. For church location, click here.
Discussing The Shack at Trinity Bible Church this Sunday, December 7
By mburer - Posted on December 2nd, 2008

Hi Dr. Burer,
Long time no see! I just stumbled upon the Shack panel discussion you were involved in and wanted to commend you on your involvement. I finished the book over Christmas and I really valued your comments, especially your fairness. It upsets me when Christians come down and speak out against books like this from the pulpit. The pulpit is not a place to preach book reviews but to proclaim Jesus crucified and risen, and to explain the hope we have in Him. I enjoyed the book and was aware of some theological problems in it but many that were mentioned among you three on the panel I had not considered. Thanks.
We're doing well here in Ireland. Our little church plant has moved out of our house now into the local hotel meeting room and we are seeing new faces regularly. June's just recovering from the flu and our two kids, Saoirse and Mark are flying around much like your own kids I imagine.
Good to see your face and hear your voice again. Keep up the good work, and maybe we'll see you on this green sod some time in the future.
Ciaran
It's very good to hear from you, Ciaran. I'm glad to hear the good news about your church plant. I'd love to see pictures of the kids if you can get a chance to send them.
If I am ever in Ireland, I will definitely look you up. Perhaps that should be my excuse to get there to begin with!
Grace to you!
