The investigative reporter and Jim Tabor are there along with others who do have challenged what they have done. Koppel does a great job moderating. The show is called The Lost Tomb of Jesus: A Critical Look. And it will be. So this is a heads up.
I spoke with Jim Tabor after the taping for some time. He claims they have remeasured the James ossuary and it matches. It "all depends on how one measures." Without actually seeing the two ossuaries myself and measuring there is no way to know on this.
So the drama continues. I leave for Israel Monday. But I will stay connected.
Well, according to Tabor there aren't two ossuaries to compare, just one. And if he's wrong, there still aren't two ossuaries to compare, since one of them has disappeared.
All you have is one ossuary, one set of measurements from the original Talpiot find, and two sets of measurements (apparently) of the ossuary that you do have (the James ossuary). And one of the two sets on the James ossuary is said by Tabor to match the measurements on the missing ossuary. Which of course raises the question what these different methods of measurement are, and why you should think that one method is the correct one for comparing to the James ossuary's measurements, rather than the other method.
But what does that matter, given that more than one of the people who found and catalogued the Talpiot ossuaries has said that the now missing ossuary had no inscription, whereas the James ossuary clearly does have an inscription?
