The workers on the tunnel, for the most part, followed a natural fissure in the limestone. At the outlet, near the Pool of Siloam, the tunnel is on the order of 15 or 20 feet high, due to the natural size of the opening. Obviously, the workers would not have chiseled out a tunnel to this height. Most of the tunnel is a little above head height, but one must crouch in places.
